EXPRESS SERIES
Borealis Express KX

Inspired by the 21'10" Mariah, a canoe designed for Gary and Joanie
McGuffin's summer long transit of Lake Superior blazing the Heritage Coast
Trail, the Borealis retains much of the capability of its' inspiration while
translated into a more manageable size. The Borealis is fast, one of those
canoes that accelerates effortlessly with each stroke and once up to speed
seems to hang there of its' own will. A canoe designed for Superior has to
be dry and the Borealis is, owing to unique spray "wings" molded
into the bow above the water line that directs water away from the hull. The
tumblehome is confined to high up on the hull for the same purpose. The
Borealis is loaded with subtle design features that become evident the more
you paddle it such as asymmetric design, blended shallow vee/arch hull. The
heritage of the Borealis is already well established.
Malecite Express KX

A Mad River Classic and a truly legendary design, the Malecite can be a lot
of boat to a lot of people. It's a fast lean touring boat, a quick
stimulating day tourer, a high volume solo boat that is rewarding with or
without a load. The Malecite is a bit narrower than an Explorer; the vee
hull is a bit deeper, the sides a bit lower. The result, a quick, nimble
canoe that responds to a skilled touch and one that makes beginners into
adept paddlers in a hurry. Words are insufficient, the only way to judge a
Malecite is to get it in the water.
Express 16 RX

The Express 16 takes the versatile hull of the Explorer and tweaks it for
enhanced open water performance. The Express is faster than its' inspiration
and is built with a lighter weight hull to further maximize speed. It
retains the shallow vee hull in a narrower asymetric hull. It's basically a
lean Explorer. It is a great lake country, big river boat that accelerates
quickly and doesn't require a lot of energy to hold cruising speed. Perhaps
what is most impressive is it is not a "tender" or tippy canoe and
can still haul more gear than is good for you.
